I’m unsigned, why do I need Music PR?
Music PR is the process of taking the music from an artist (either those signed to a major label or an unsigned artist) and developing a strategy to promote their material in order to gain more exposure from the media, and ultimately, more opportunities for the artist. With the music industry turning full circle and becoming very much a ‘DIY’ venture for most artists, it’s crucial now, more than ever, that your music PR campaign stands out in what already is, a very competitive industry.
Because of this, many artists choose to have their PR campaigns promoted by established Music PR professionals or Music PR companies. The main reason is due to their name and reputation, most Music PR companies who have been in the game for a long time, will already have a large, established list of contacts that they can distribute to.
However, most companies will charge thousands of pounds for this privilege and the budget just isn’t there for unsigned artists. Most unsigned artists or bands have to go it alone in order to try, and are often ignored by the larger blogs, they are often left without a voice and feel frustrated that their music, as good as it may be, isn’t getting the recognition it deserves. That’s where we come in.
